Jimmy Simpson Foundation’s 2023 Safehaven Annual Golf Tournament Slated for September 21st

Funds raised will support the non-profit’s capital campaign focused on expanding its current facilities.

ROCK SPRING, Ga. (July 20, 2023) – Following a successful Clay Shoot that brought in over $70,000, the Jimmy Simpson Foundation is now preparing for its 2023 Safehaven Annual Golf Tournament, which is scheduled to tee off at LaFayaette Golf Course in LaFayette, GA, on September 21, 2023. Proceeds will go towards the foundation’s capital campaign, Foundations for the Future.

Foundations for the Future is aimed at expanding the foundation’s Safehaven facility in Walker County, Ga., from 12 to 24 beds to accommodate the rising need for resources for traumatic brain injured and ventilator-dependent individuals in the Chattanooga area. Once completed, the expanded facility will grow to approximately 31,000 square feet, with 28,000 of that space dedicated to direct services.

A variety of sponsorship opportunities for the tournament are now available. In an effort to make sponsorships accessible to businesses of all sizes, the sponsorships range in cost from $100 for Ring of Honor Signage to $5,000 for the Event Sponsorship.

“We were blessed to have incredible sponsors for our Clay Shoot in June. Now we’re looking for folks to help us make this year’s golf tournament just as successful. We are thankful for all of our sponsors because every donation makes a difference. This year we’re even offering a special Ring of Honor Signage sponsorship where individuals can purchase putting green signage honoring the memory of a Safehaven resident,” Vickie Hodge, CEO of Safehaven and the Jimmy Simpson Foundation, said.

This year’s tournament will tee off at 9:00 am. Lunch will also be provided for all participants.

The 2023 golf tournament is part of a series of events the non-profit organization has had in celebration of its 25th anniversary. Since its inception in 1998, Safehaven has welcomed numerous individuals who have suffered a traumatic brain injury and their families to its facility.

“Safehaven was such a God send to our family. We lost our Mom/Grandmother who cared for our sister/aunt her whole life after being involved in a horrific hit-and-run accident. It left her paralyzed with a significant brain injury. When our mom/grandmother became ill, and soon after passed away, we had no idea how to care for our loved one, especially in the manner she was accustomed to. We were introduced to this wonderful facility and immediately fell in love with them, and them in love with her. She has been cared for above and beyond any way we could have ever dreamt of. We are forever thankful for everything they do for her and us. We don’t have to worry if she is being taken care of. You can see how happy she is to know that is a fact. They have helped get her treatment for issues we have never been able to get approved or even answers for. The staff is incredible in so many ways and extremely knowledgeable. Thank you so much for taking the greatest care of our sister/aunt,” family members of a Safehaven resident said.

To sign up to sponsor this year’s tournament, call Jacqui Ricketson at 423-244-1513 or email her at jricketson@safehavenjsf.org.

The Jimmy Simpson Foundation is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, and all sponsorships are tax-deductible.

ABOUT JIMMY SIMPSON FOUNDATION - ROCK SPRING, GA

The Jimmy Simpson Foundation is dedicated to providing the best quality care for the brain injury community. It was founded as a 501c3 organization by Carol Simpson after her husband, Jimmy, suffered an anoxic brain injury as a result from a fall out of a hospital bed after surgery. While searching for long term placement for Jimmy, it was difficult to find an environment that fostered individuality as well as provided a safe home environment. As with many non-profit organizations, the family saw a need within the brain injury community and stepped up to meet that need.
