Jimmy Simpson Foundation Marks 25th Anniversary with Glimpse into Safehaven’s Rich History and Exciting Future

The non-profit joined some of its closest friends to reflect on its past accomplishments and look forward to what lies ahead.

ROCK SPRING, Ga. (November 01, 2023) – Celebrating its 25th Anniversary, the Jimmy Simpson Foundation reflected on its past and offered a glimpse of what lies ahead at a special invite-only event on October 14th.

The nonprofit organization welcomed former and current board members, committee members, case managers and civic club members to the Walker County Civic Center for dinner and a special presentation where individuals who have been instrumental in the foundation and Safehaven’s success were honored.

“When my mom embarked on the journey to establish the Jimmy Simpson Foundation and Safehaven back in 1998, we understood the profound need for passionate partners to join us in providing exceptional care to members of the traumatic brain injury community and their families. Over the years, we’ve had the distinct honor of working with devoted volunteers and dedicated community members who have not merely embraced our mission but made it their own. It is thanks to these extraordinary individuals that we stand here today reflecting on what we’ve accomplished and looking forward to what the next 25 years will bring,” Vickie Hodge, CEO of Safehaven and the Jimmy Simpson Foundation, said.

Hodge and her team encouraged attendees and the broader community to watch for exciting news in 2024 regarding the future of Safehaven and the Foundations for the Future campaign, aimed at raising funds to expand Safehaven and provide care to additional residents.

“This expansion project will double our residential capacity from 12 to 24 beds and enhance our brain injury support group services. There is currently a rising need for resources for traumatic brain injury and ventilator-dependent individuals in the Greater Chattanooga area. Our residents deserve to have a high quality of life regardless of their mental or physical capabilities. We invite the community to join us, whether through donations, participation in our annual Clay Shoot or Golf Tournament, or volunteering. Every little contribution makes a difference,” Jessie Malone, Chief Operations Officer at the Jimmy Simpson Foundation, said.

The foundation also encourages everyone to sign up for its quarterly newsletter for updates regarding upcoming events and the progress of the new facility and services

ABOUT JIMMY SIMPSON FOUNDATION - ROCK SPRING, GA

The Jimmy Simpson Foundation is dedicated to providing the best quality care for the brain injury community. It was founded as a 501c3 organization by Carol Simpson after her husband, Jimmy, suffered an anoxic brain injury as a result from a fall out of a hospital bed after surgery. While searching for long term placement for Jimmy, it was difficult to find an environment that fostered individuality as well as provided a safe home environment. As with many non-profit organizations, the family saw a need within the brain injury community and stepped up to meet that need.
